CITY HALL PEREGRINE FALCON PROGRAM
For several years, Peregrine Falcons have been visiting City Hall. Massachusetts, through the Division of Fisheries & Wildlife, has a program to install falcon nesting boxes in structures that the birds are likely to nest, namely tall urban buildings that overlook water. The City agreed to allow a nesting box to be installed at the belfry level, on the south elevation facing the harbor, as indicated by the red circle.
Webcams are to be installed. For further information check back frequently. The photos of the Peregrine Falcon are courtesy Jim Barber (www.jimbmedia.com) and were taken before (Left) and after (Right) the restoration of the tower at the cupola and clock levels.
